THE DM LAW DIFFERENCE

Focused on your family.
Prepared for
what comes next.

A family-law case is more than a collection of documents and deadlines. It affects your home, your children, your finances, and your plans for the future.

As a boutique family-law firm, DM LAW takes time to understand those connections. We work with you to identify priorities, examine the facts, and develop a strategy suited to your circumstances.

Some matters call for collaboration and a carefully negotiated agreement. Others require firm advocacy in court. Our role is to help you understand the choices, prepare for the challenges, and move forward with informed decisions.

Personal attention

Your goals guide the conversation. We listen to what matters to you and address the concerns behind the legal questions.

Clear communication

We explain the process, discuss options, and help you understand the next steps in your case.

Thorough preparation

We organize the evidence and work through the details that support effective negotiation and courtroom advocacy.

OUR EXPERIENCE

A perspective shaped
by advocacy and decision-making.

Douglas Paul Malenfant combines Florida courtroom experience with prior service evaluating evidence and making decisions in public adjudicative roles.

FLORIDA PRACTICE

Courtroom & trial experience

Douglas has helped resolve hundreds of cases and brings experience with the way Florida family-law disputes are negotiated, litigated, and decided. He guides clients through settlement discussions and trial, helping them understand the choices ahead and the preparation each stage requires.

PRIOR PUBLIC SERVICE

Former Virginia Magistrate

Before practicing family law in Florida, Douglas served as a Virginia Magistrate, handling civil and criminal matters and more than one hundred domestic violence hearings. Evaluating matters from the decision-maker’s perspective continues to shape his attention to evidence, credibility, and clear presentation.

ADMINISTRATIVE ADJUDICATION

Former Hearing Officer

At the Texas Workforce Commission Appeals Tribunal, Douglas evaluated evidence, applied the law, and wrote formal opinions—experience that continues to inform his analysis and preparation.

A STRATEGY FOR YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES

Thoughtful in negotiation.
Ready for the courtroom.

The right path depends on your situation. We help you weigh the practical consequences of each available approach.

WORKING TOWARD AGREEMENT

Find a workable resolution.

Negotiation, mediation, and collaborative divorce can offer opportunities to resolve important issues with greater participation in the outcome. We help you evaluate proposed terms and keep your long-term priorities in view.

ADVOCATING THROUGH LITIGATION

Prepare to be heard.

When an agreement is not possible, we prepare to present your position in court. That work includes examining records, developing testimony, and addressing the evidence that matters to the issues before the judge.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND YOUR CASE

Personal commitment.
Thoughtful support.

From case preparation to day-to-day communication, our team helps clients navigate the work ahead.
