Child support & enforcement

Focused on Family | Committed to Results

Support disputes affect household budgets and the stability of family life. DM LAW helps clients address support questions, existing orders, and enforcement concerns with a practical plan.

Establishing or reviewing support

We work with clients on support matters involving income, financial information, and the circumstances of their family. We help organize the information needed to evaluate the issues.

Modification and enforcement

We assist people seeking compliance with an existing order and those responding to enforcement or contempt proceedings. We review the order, payment history, and specific dispute.

Driver’s license concerns

When a child-support matter involves a threatened or existing driver’s license suspension, we help clients evaluate their situation and discuss the steps available in their case.

YOUR FIRST CONVERSATION

What to have in mind.

You do not need every answer before calling. These details can help frame the conversation:

  • Support orders and related notices
  • Payment records and any arrears statements
  • A general overview of income and employment

Our staff can explain how to provide documents after the initial intake and conflict check.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Answers for the decisions ahead.

Can you represent someone seeking support or responding to a request?

Yes. DM LAW assists parents on either side of a child-support matter. We review the financial information, parenting arrangements, and existing orders to identify the issues that need to be addressed.

What information matters in a child-support case?

Income records, financial affidavits, health-insurance costs, childcare expenses, and the parenting schedule can all matter. We help organize the available information and identify gaps or inconsistencies that need further review.

What can I do if ordered support is not being paid?

We can review the order and payment history and discuss appropriate enforcement. Depending on the circumstances, relief may include proceedings to establish arrears, seek compliance, or pursue contempt and other available remedies. The appropriate process depends on the order and the evidence.

Can unpaid child support affect my driver’s license?

Yes. Florida law allows license and vehicle-registration suspension for support delinquency and certain failures to comply with support-related proceedings. Respond promptly to any notice. DM LAW reviews payment records, deadlines, and possible options to contest the action, arrange payment, or seek court relief.

Do I always have to pay all arrears at once to address a suspension?

Not necessarily. Depending on the case, a written payment agreement, a timely court challenge, or another statutory basis may provide a path forward. Eligibility and deadlines matter. We evaluate the notice and circumstances rather than assuming full immediate payment is the only option.

Can you help with a Department of Revenue case?

Yes. We can review support and enforcement issues involving the Department of Revenue, including related license concerns. Please provide notices, orders, and information about any separate family-court case so we can assess how the proceedings interact.

What is a writ of bodily attachment?

It is a court directive that can authorize law enforcement to take a person into custody. It may arise in support-enforcement proceedings under applicable procedures; arrears do not automatically mean incarceration. If you have received related papers, contact counsel promptly to review the order, hearing history, and available response.

Can a child’s special needs affect support?

Extraordinary medical, psychological, educational, or other qualifying expenses may require attention beyond a basic guideline calculation. Some dependent adult children may also qualify for continuing support under specific statutory requirements. We review care costs, available benefits, and the circumstances before discussing a request for relief.
